Another huge season for Speedcars this year saw plenty of action at each and every one, with fifteen shows taking place at four tracks in 2021/22.
Throughout these shows, there were two, three round series that took place, the Esslinger Engineering Triple Crown and the Speedcar Country Series.
Looking at the Esslinger Engineering Triple Crown it was Dan Golding who took the win on 430 points with two seconds and a sixth, ahead of second place Tom Payet on 426 points with two wins and a DNF.
Glen Mears also recorded some consistent finishes; a third, a fourth and a seventh, to be another four points further behind Payet in third place overall, a total of 422 points, while fourth place was Keenan Fleming (two DNF’s and a third) with 410 points ahead of Beau Doyle (a DNF, a fifth and an eighth) who rounded out the top five with 406 points.
A total of twenty-one drivers competed in at least one of the three rounds, with ten drivers competing in every round. Two drivers claimed a feature race win (Payet with two and Kaiden Manders with one), while seven drivers would make an appearance on the podium across the three feature races.
The Country Series saw seventeen drivers contesting at least one show and six drivers competing in all three rounds.
Courtesy of his results, Keenan Fleming came away with the overall win in the country series, with Beau Doyle taking advantage of Dan Golding not starting the final round feature to steal second overall at the last possible moment by just a handful of points while Golding settled for third.
The Perth Motorpelx was held across twelve rounds this season, with Tom Payet defeating Kaiden Manders and Beau Doyle; the top three to be recognised at the Perth Motorplex awards night in coming weeks, while WASDA will also reveal all its winners at their annual trophy night in mid-May.
Stay tuned for all those details, but in the meantime, let’s take a an even deeper look through the season that was!
